My first suggestion is to go snowshoeing at the brand-new Tubbs Snowshoeing Center at the Three Stallion Inn in Randolph, Vermont. The center offers 50 kilometers of trails that weave through forests and along the Third Branch of the White River over
rolling meadows and open fields. The adjoining Three Stallion Inn is a picture-perfect New England farmhouse which, unfortunately, doesn’t allow pets. But if you leave your dogs at home, you can take advantage of the Inn’s “Take Time for Two Special Packages” that includes two nights lodging, four breakfasts, four trail fees, and two dinners for $210. Randolph is the Econo Lodge (800-424-4777) in Montpelier, approximately 30 miles north. Stowe, Vermont, a very snowshoey kind of destination, has a number of hotels that allow dogs.
