Lodges. Near Seattle. Way cool.
Question: Seattle: interesting lodges? MD interested in discovering area around Seattle. Will go with wife at end of May. Have five days after meeting.

ϳԹ Adviser: Salish Lodge. 30 miles east of Seattle. Foothills of northern Cascades. 91-room inn hanging off top of 268-foot Snoqualmie Falls. Acrophobics beware. Decor unmistakably Northwestern: gigantic fir beams, stone fireplaces, huge copper chandelier. Nouveau-lumberjack cuisine: venison with herbed spaetzle, etc. Great views of
falls. Kayaking on Puget Sound an easy 40 minutes away. Plenty of paths leading out from lodge to top pool of falls or vertigo-inducing overlooks. Rooms go for $145-$500 a night. Lodge is off I-90 or Washington 202 in Snoqualmie. Call 800-826-6124.

Another possibility a bit farther afield: All Seasons River Inn in Leavenworth, 100 miles east of Seattle. Surrounded on three sides by Wenatchee National Forest. My choice for an active, Seattle-area vacation. Rock climbing, day hiking, mountain biking, and rafting galore. Great brew pub for post-hike rejuvenation. Inn is one mile west of downtown on banks of Wenatchee
River. Rooms: $90 per night. Call 509-548-1425.
