Learn-to-sail vacations in the tropics
Question: My wife and I would like to combine learning how to sail with a warm weather vacation. Any ideas?

An instructional sailing vacation in
the Virgin Islands

ϳԹ Adviser: Steve and Doris Colgate bring more than 30 years of experience to their well-known Offshore Sailing School (800-221-4326). A former Olympic sailor, Steve personally designs the curriculum and oversees the hiring of the very qualified instructors. You can learn to sail on award-winning boats in warm-weather locations like
Captiva Island and St. Petersburg, Florida, and Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Sail the Caribbean waters by day, and stay in comfortable hotels by night on the eight-day Learn to Sail course in Tortola, which costs $1295/per person. Or, $2750 will buy you a berth on the two-week Fast Track to Cruising course, which includes nine nights of accommodation ashore during sailing
school followed by five nights at sea.

Annapolis Sailing School (800-638-9192) also offers several instructional sailing vacations in the Virgin Islands, from weekend trips for beginners to week-long excursions for cruiser-wannabes. Prices include instruction, accommodation and most food, and range from $1,985/per person for a three-day course (lodging on land), to $2,095 for a seven-day Virgin Island Cruise
(six nights aboard the boat).Trips are offered year round.
