On May 31, Frenchmen Fréderic Fugen and Vincent Reffet jumped from an airplane 33,000 feet above Mont Blanc, pushing the limits of what's possible without a pressurized skydiving suit.

Wearing specialized lightweight oxygen systems designed specifically for this jump, the aerial athletes fell for more than 40 seconds at approximately 250 mph before deploying their canopies.

Using the specially designed parachutes, which facilitate mountain swooping (skimming past the sides of a peak at high speed), the duo fell for about seven more minutes before landing in Courmayeur, Italy.

Fugen and Reffet have completed more than 10,000 jumps as a pair. The team set a BASE jumping record after leaping from Dubai's Burj Kalifha building in April.
