The area—more than 110,00 acres of sandstone arches and canyons—sits 175 miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona, near the Utah border. Climbers and hikers sure have a lot of fun here, and the photographers grin quietly behind their cameras.
One of those photographers must have been Max Seigal when he captured this nighttime scene of the Wave. Carved by years of flash floods, the exposed strata creates a sense of motion that makes the formation one of the area's most famous attractions.
