During the summer, chunks of Knik Glacier in southern Alaska calve into the lake below. In the winter, the icebergs freeze into the water's surface, creating smooth passage between the towers of ice. You can explore the expanse on foot, but fat bikes are the preferred method of transportation. Riders can start on the Old Glenn Highway and put in a full day riding around the base of the glacier.
