Though they’ve tried to polish their image with PC environmental awareness camps for kids, the lodge remains what is always has been — sportfisherman central.
Just off Route 1 (you could drive there), the plantation-style lodge sits on 1,500 feet of beach front with a small golf course out back. There’s six lighted tennis courts, nature trails, two swimming pools, and bikes, snorkels, and scuba gear for rent. For bonefishing, you’ll have to arrange a charter with a nearby marina. The Exuma Cays, a series of 365 cays rising from the ocean just 35 miles southeast of Nassau, is a bonefishing haven. If you really want to bond with your future wife, you should sign both of you up for a week-long school with veteran flats master Bob Hyde.
