Fitbit Charge 4 Fitness Tracker ($150)

Fitbit’s first fitness tracker with GPS also records the time you spend in each heart-rate zone and alerts you when you need to ease back or push harder during a workout. Sleep monitoring with machine learning helps you wake up at just the right moment.
Lynq Location Tracker ($149)

Get a couple of these (price for two: $249), pair them with each other, and use the one-button operation to find your buddy on the trail if you get separated, no cell service required. (Caveat: they sometimes struggle in cold weather.) Built-in GPS lets you locate friends at distances of up to three miles, depending on the terrain.
Apple Watch Series 5 ($400 and up)

Apple has been making the best iPhone-compatible smartwatches for years. The Series 5 improves on that legacy. Its always-on Retina display is useful for quick glances during workouts, and it has twice as much storage as the previous version, so there’s plenty of room for music and apps. It’s also the first Apple Watch with a compass.
Nurvv Run Insoles ($300)

Take your favorite running shoes to the next level. A whopping 32 sensors per foot track distance, speed, cadence, balance (whether you’re favoring one side), placement and pressure of foot strikes, and even pronation. An app filters all that raw data to help you train better and make real improvements.
Suunto 7 Fitness Smartwatch ($499)

The Suunto is a full-featured smartwatch with exhaustively multisport fitness-tracking capabilities. It runs on Google’s Wear OS, giving you access to myriad apps, including Google Assistant, and comes equipped with GPS, heart-rate monitoring, and offline maps. It’s also waterproof to 150 feet.
Muse 2 Headband ($250)

Meditation is important, but it can be tough to shift gears when life gets hectic. Think of the Muse 2 as training wheels for mindfulness. The headband measures your brainwaves via EEG, as well as heart rate, breathing, and movement, and pairs with an app that uses gentle soundscapes to guide you into relaxation and clarity.
